The natural ventilation system is also controlled by the building management system and is split into four banks of motorised window actuators.

The window ventilation system is controlled based upon various parameters received from the external weather conditions (rain, wind speed, wind direction and temperature) in addition the internal temperature will determine whether the windows need to be opened to maintain the required ventilation requirements to the controlled space.

The passive ventilation system is interlocked with the air handling unit plants supplying conditioned air to the Drill Hall space. Only when the passive ventilation systems are proven will the air handling unit plants enabled. The passive ventilation system provides the 1st stage of cooling.

The building management system is fully integrated with the server room close control air conditioning units which provides the user with greater functionality and monitoring facilities.

Control system installed : A fully networked Trend IQ3 Ethernet based building management system was supplied and installed complete with a full 963 front end supervisor package including dynamic plant graphics over a site wide fibre optic communications network

The Building Management System installed monitors and controls all functions of the heating, ventilation, and cooling plant.

The building consists of several remote plant rooms on the ground and second floors, each housing the air handling unit plants which provide conditioned air to the various spaces.

The BMS front end supervisor allows the end user to carry out all monitoring routines and data logging with the ability to adjust temperature settings and timeschedules

The outstations are assigned a static IP address to allow communications via the buildings data system back to the front end supervisor.

The building management system monitors not only the incoming gas, water and electric meters but also many utility sub-meters.
