Irrespective of external climate conditions the TermoDeck system produces an efficient and low cost method for heating or cooling a building to the highest standard of comfort.

The first stage of cooling in this building is via passive ventilation (motorised windows and wind towers), the passive ventilation is very efficient meaning that the chiller is only enabled for second stage cooling on the very hottest of days, meaning that the overall energy efficiency of the building is very high.

The building has been critically acclaimed by the building industry and national press and has been nominated for several prestigious awards and was opened by HRH Princess Anne.

We attend quarterly fine tuning/energy consumptions meetings with the buildings designers and the facilities management company to further adapt the control routines of the building management system in order to reduce energy consumption still further.

The new Jubilee Library has been short listed for the prestigious Stirling Prize. The prize is awarded to the architects of the building that is judged to have made the greatest contribution to architecture over the past year.

A fully networked Trend IQ2 system building management system was supplied and installed complete with a full 963 front end supervisor package including dynamic plant graphics as part of the new £14m Brighton Jubilee Library Building

The building management system controls all aspects of the forced ventilation, natural ventilation (via motorised windows and wind towers), air conditioning and electric heating (including all trench heating and the overdoor heater.

The building is built utilises the TermoDeck® ventilation and A/C system that uses thermal energy storage in hollow core slabs for energy saving and peak power reduction. Full energy monitoring of all gas, water and electric meters is also carried out by the building management system.

When days are hot, the mass of the building can absorb the ambient and internal heat the following day.

During the night, the cooled supply air dissipates the surplus heat stored in the slab and cools down the slab. Conversely, when days are cold the mass of the building absorbs the surplus heat provided by the occupants, lighting, computers, etc, during the working day.

At night, this stored heat will compensate for the fabric losses and keep the room warm to the morning. If necessary, it is warmed by heated re-circulated air.
